Be sure to watch our very own Miss Wayne County 1998 and Miss Michigan 1999, Audrie Chernauckas Jeffords, and her family hunt for a house on the popular HGTV show House Hunters!  The episode airs Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 10:00 PM E/P!
After nine years of Las Vegas living, Audrie and Bill are returning back to where it all began - Michigan.  This couple first met in the 5th grade, and have been together ever since.  After being crowned "Miss Michigan", Audrie, a long time dancer, performed with Siegfried and Roy in Las Vegas.  She and Bill lived happily in the desert until the birth of their son, William.  They missed their 'home,' and wanted William to grow up in the same environment where they first met.  So they packed up their things and moved into his mother's 2-bedroom condo in Livonia, MI, where they've been living for the last 9 months.  Although they're grateful to have a place to crash, this couple can't wait to find their own house.  Thus far, they've been really disappointed in their search.  They thought with their budget they could have their pick of properties in the Midwest, but with the decline of home values in Michigan, not many people are putting their houses on the market.  Will they be able to find a place that works for them or will they be forced to stay even longer with Bill's mother?

PLYMOUTH, MI —– While the Ontario Hockey League’s Plymouth Whalers are battling the Niagara IceDogs this Saturday at 7:05pm at Compuware Arena for playoff positioning, there will be a celebration of a different variety that adds an interesting and uplifting back story to the game.

The Whalers are celebrating their second-annual Girls Rock Night! to recognize and celebrate girls and women of all ages who work hard to be healthy, active and confident girls in our community.  The Whalers and their corporate sponsors will be offering contests and giveaways strictly for girls and women of all ages.

Corporate sponsors this season include 94.7FM WCSX Classic Rock, Lucky Hair Company in Canton, Comfort Inn of Plymouth and Plymouth Jewelry and Gifts.

Long-time WCSX talent Karen Savelly – one of the first female rock disc jockeys in Detroit – will be on hand Saturday to help celebrate the event.  Savelly has enjoyed one of the longest runs (35 years) in broadcasting in Detroit radio history, working at radio stations WABX-FM and WLLZ-FM, among other stations.  A native-Detroiter and a graduate of Wayne State University, Savelly is considered by many to be a pioneer for women in the broadcast industry.

Ashlee Baracy (Miss Michigan 2008) and founder of Daughters Supporting Mothers with Breast Cancer will also be appearing.  Baracy’s website - Daughters Support Mothers with Breast Cancer – offers free support services and is designed to help daughters cope with mothers battling breast cancer.  This website serves as a facilitator for educational information, advocacy and volunteer opportunities, fundraising for research organizations, and an outlet for discussion.
