Sheila has also been keeping me busy with Miss Wayne County appearances. This past Sunday I attended the Our Lady of Loretto Harvest Fest, which is an amazing free event for the community. I started the afternoon with a small workout - serving a huge tray of hot doughnuts to the crowd. I later tried my hand at milling fresh apple cider and have since decided to add more upper body workouts to my regiment. Let's just say it was a humbling experience. I had a chance to decorate a pumpkin, which ended up looking like a block M with a crown on it. There was a young man who insisted that I put a green S on it as well, so I did. Of course, I followed it up with a red circle with a line through it. Don't worry State fans, it was only a joke. In fact, green is my third favorite color, and I always guess the letter S first when I watch Wheel of Fortune. Anyway, back to Harvest Fest... Sheila and I attempted to squeeze in a rousing game of squash bowling, but our fun was cut short because I had to help judge the pumpkin decorating contest. Fortunately, this meant my pumpkin was disqualified from the competition, because I don't think it could hold a candle to some of the six-year-olds'. After the contest and a short hayride, we feasted on a delicious barbequed chicken dinner, courtesy of the fabulous
volunteer chefs. The afternoon ended with a raffle drawing for the most gigantic pumpkin I have ever seen. Congratulations to little Brennan, who won the pumpkin that is twice his size, and good luck trying to get that thing home. Thank you to Our Lady of Loretto for hosting me and to Sheila for taking me. I enjoyed spending a beautiful autumn afternoon outside with some of the friendliest people in Wayne County.
I'm really looking forward to some of our upcoming events. Next week I will make my debut as a runway model at the Redford Suburban League Fashion Show, followed by a weekend of fun (and learning, of course) at the LAMP conference. Katie Harman is one of my favorite Miss Americas, and I cannot wait to meet her! I am excited to see more of my pageant family as well.
Make sure you take some time to enjoy the beautiful fall colors this week!
