The event was officially kicked off with the song “I Run for Life” by Melissa Etheridge, or as many of you may know it as my “talent” song. No matter how many times I hear it, it still sends chills up my spine. It has become such an integral part of my platform, my talent, my life. The lyrics quickly set a mood of motivation, gratitude, and hope.
We were blessed by Mother Nature's cooperation. As we started walking, I saw Deena Centofanti, an anchor and health reporter for FOX 2 News Detroit. As some of you may know, I interned with the FOX 2 Health Department several months ago, so it was nice seeing Deena and FOX's sponsorship. She interviewed me on camera. You can hear me speak at the end of the Making Strides Video on their website.
It is a dream and goal of mine that breast cancer will one day be obsolete; I envision a future where breast cancer no longer threatens those we love.
