Miss America is proud of its heritage and is more relevant than ever as an enormous opportunity for some of the most intelligent, outgoing, multi-faceted and stylish women today.

Dresses, suits, and fashionable outfits are all appropriate for the group photo.

You should wear something appropriate for a job interview, but a little dressier.  Dresses, business suits, and shirt/skirt combinations are all possibilities.  The Miss America Organization seems to be heading away from the typical "pageant" suit.  Please keep this in mind when selecting your outfit, but know that suits are always appropriate.

You will compete in the one or two piece swimsuit and footwear of your own choosing.  Please use good judgement when selecting an appropriate swimsuit to wear.  Skin colored sandals/heels which blend into the leg are recommended for footwear.

You will compete in the outfit/costume of your own choosing which reflects the talent presented.  Props are allowed only if  they are essential to and used during the talent presentation. 

You will compete in an outfit of your own choosing, representative of what you would wear to a formal, black tie event.  Floor length evening gowns are recommended for this phase of competition.  (Tip:  A floor length gown should just touch the floor in front of your big toe.)  Remember, it doesn't matter how much the gown costs, but how the contestants wears it.
