My parents and I arrived in Traverse City on Wednesday (Feb. 13th) just before the dump of snow on Valentine's Day! I woke up bright and early Thursday to make several official appearances as Miss Heart, promoting the pageant in its new location. I had interviews on four different radio stations, followed by a speaking event with the Rotary Club, visitations/photo opportunities with our many sponsors, then a television interview on Friday. I was so honored to be part of this new era for the Miss Heart of Michigan pageant and absolutely enthused with how Traverse City has embraced our organization. Thank you to Michael, Loretta, all of the Miss Heart volunteers, and sponsors. I look forward to watching the pageant continue to flourish. Jeff and Kathy – It was a privilege to have been your representative, and I cherish our friendship. Thank you so much for your continued support.
Last weekend would not have been nearly as fun without the 17 wonderful contestants! What a remarkable group of young women. For several of them, it was their last pageant, or as they like to say “they have now retired.” I must say how special it was to be part of that experience with them. Each one of the ladies embodied the character that sets this organization apart from the rest. I learned a great deal from all of you, and for that, I thank you! I want to give a special congratulations to Rebecca Ransom – Miss Heart of Michigan 2008! Welcome to the Miss Heart sorority. You are a very deserving young woman and I can't wait to spend a week together in Muskegon. I hope this year's reign is all you have hoped for!
Tomorrow we will be inducting another contestant into the MM class of 2008. I wish all the Miss Shoreline contestants the best of luck, and I want to wish Katie Lorenz, Miss Shoreline 2007, the best of luck in all her future endeavors. Katie, as you turn this chapter in your life, I can't help but to feel fortunate to have shared in your pageant journey. You have always been a special friend, starting with sharing several of the same roles each year in the Nutcracker and now I look forward to seeing all the wonderful things that are ahead of you!
In close, I cannot wait for these next few weeks between Miss America's Homecoming, MM Orientation, and then a full schedule of appearances in March! Keep checking back for new pictures and blogs as I embark on these exciting events!
