I also want to extend my congratulations to Tiffany, Katie, Sheila, and Melissa from our very own Miss Michigan - Class of 2007 on their finish at the first Miss Capital City pageant. I look forward to spending another week in Muskegon with Tiffany Griffin, Miss Capital City 2007.
Today, I had the pleasure of doing a “meet and greet” at the Pink Door's "Hunter's Ball." I want to thank Julie for including me in this fundraising event that raises money to fund quality mammography imaging at a location convenient to those who need it. A Hunter's Ball is a “yooper” tradition, usually held the first weekend of hunting season for women whose husbands leave to hunt. It was an honor to help take part in crowning Kathy, a breast cancer survivor, the “queen” of the Hunter's Ball. Her mother was crowned a Hunter's Ball queen over 60 years ago and was there to share in the crowning moment. I look forward to partnering with the Pink Door and its efforts in raising awareness for breast cancer and early detection. For more information on the Pink Door click here.
November looks to be a promising month full of appearances and opportunities that would not have been possible without the Miss Wayne County crown. I look forward to updating you on all my adventures. To honor all of the survivors I met today, I will close with a salute to hope and life.
