Miss Michigan Katie LaRoche, Bay City native, crowned Miss Congeniality at 2011 Miss America Pageant
LAS VEGAS — Although she didn't win the overall crown, Miss Michigan Katie LaRoche came away from the 90th Miss America Pageant with another high honor. The Bay City native was crowned Miss Congeniality by her peers. "It's an awesome honor," LaRoche said. "The girls are all great. We're a very tight-knit group. There's a lot of camaraderie. So it definitely means a lot." Shelly Taylor, executive director of the Miss Michigan Scholarship Organization, said the recognition of LaRoche by the other Miss America contestants further exhibits LaRoche's merits. "We couldn't be more proud of this young lady," she said. "She was absolutely flawless in performance, her swimwear, her evening wear, everything. "She has a lot of to be proud of," she continued. "She certainly exemplifies this program and what we work so hard for. She's a winner in our eyes."
We think our current and former Miss Wayne County, Miss Michigan, and Miss America titleholders and contestants are rather newsworthy. Our pageant committee keeps up with them on a regular basis, now you can too!
