Your Fact Sheet and Community Service Initiative essay, talent music, and headshot must be uploaded by Monday, July 31, 2023.  The judging panel needs ample time to review your paperwork and prepare for the interview competition, so your paperwork MUST ​be submitted in a timely manner.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

Candidate Registration / Competition Fees


​By registering for the Miss America program, you gain access to exclusive members-only benefits* including:

Registration is due NO LATER than Saturday, July 30, 2022.
Late local program registrations will not be accepted.

Step 1:  Miss America Registration

​Each candidate must register for the 2024 Miss America competition season* HERE.  There is a one-time $35 registration fee for each competition season.

If you have already registered for the 2024 season, skip to Step 2.

*Miss Wayne County 2022 is in the 2024 Miss America competition season.

Step 2:  Local Competition Registration

Once you have registered with Miss America, you will need to complete the Miss Wayne County local competition registration for $75. There is a $75 registration fee for EACH local competition you compete in.

If you have previously competed in a local program this season, sign into the Miss America Member Portal using the login you created when you completed your Miss America registration. From there you can complete the registration for Miss Wayne County.

Contestant Contract


​Please make sure the candidate contract is completely filled out and signed.  You should attach any supplemental information applicable for you (e.g. birth certificate, proof of residency, proof of employment, proof of student enrollment) to the contract and turn it in along with the Social Media Agreement.

You will need to turn in the hard copy at rehearsal on Sunday, August 6, 2023.

Fact Sheet & Community Service Initiative


​​Your resume and social impact initiative are the first impression you will give the judges. Please proofread them carefully and include anything about yourself that may spark their interest.

Fact Sheet

Your fact sheet must be a single page in a San serif fonts in sizes 11-14. Margins are to be standard 1”. Single line spaced typed responses Your fact sheet may not include any attachments, graphics, or photos.

Community Service Initiative (CSI)

The Community Service Initiative essay is your opportunity to explain to the judges what your chosen CSI is and why it is important for the Miss Michigan Organization to embrace this platform.  In addition, it should explain how your CSI will further the Miss America Opportunity “brand” to the public.

Your essay should follow the format given in the below instructions:

Talent Music


Please note that talent song selections are registered on a first come, first served basis, so it's important to register your music as soon as possible.  Two candidates cannot perform to the same song even if they are performing different talents.

You are responsible for making the desired cuts to your music.  The time limit for the talent competition is 90 seconds.  The version you turn is must be of competition quality.  Talent songs may not be enhanced.  For example:  Background vocals cannot sing the same words at the same time as the performer.

Headshot


We will include individual headshots provided by each candidate on the website and in the program book.  You will need to upload your hi-res photo below NO LATER than Sunday, July 30, 2023 to be sure it will be included in the program.

Ashlee Baracy Community Service Award


​The Ashlee Baracy Community Service Award is an optional scholarship opportunity which seeks to encourage and reward the Miss Wayne County candidates who donate their time and talent to worthwhile community projects.  This competition is judged by a separate judge and does not have any effect on the final outcome of the competition.  

To enter this optional competition, please submit the following in the form below by Sunday, July 30, 2023:
  1. A one-page essay about your community service work.
  2. One reference letter from a non-relative who is in a position to evaluate your community service work.

Legacy Award


​The Legacy Award is an optional scholarship opportunity designed to commemorate our Miss Wayne County legacy, encourage leadership within our "sisterhood," as well as improve scholarship opportunities for the young women of Wayne County. Contestants interested in applying for this award will be required to submit an essay which will be judged by a separate panel of judges and does not have any effect on the final outcome of the competition.

The scholarship is provided by our former titleholders, and we accept donations up until the day of the program.  Therefore, the scholarship amount will not be given until the winner is announced on-stage during the awards ceremony.

To enter this optional competition, follow the instructions below and turn in your essay in an envelope with your name on it, but DO NOT write your name on the essay itself.  The essay competition will be judged blindly. 

Essays are to be turned in AT DRESS REHEARSAL on ​Friday, August 11, 2023.

People's Choice Award


​The People’s Choice Award is awarded to the candidate who receives the most "votes" from the audience as the candidate they believe should win the competition.

People's Choice containers will be displayed on a table at the entrance to the competition and will be available for voting through the end of intermission.  Audience members will "vote" for their favorite candidate by inserting money into that candidate's container.  $1 = one vote.  The candidate with the most votes will win the People’s Choice Award.  The proceeds from the People’s Choice competition will ​go directly to the Miss Wayne County scholarship fund.

​You will need to decorate a container (think Pringles can, oatmeal container, etc.) with any type of decoration that fits your personality and should include your name, candidate number, and photo.  

​Containers are to be turned in AT DRESS REHEARSAL on Friday, August 11, 2023.
