How to Apply

The Miss America Opportunity stands for empowering young women across the country to be the best they can be through leadership, talent, communication skills and smarts. Each year, thousands of young women participate at the local, state and national levels, culminating in the selection of 51 national finalists who compete for the title of Miss America.  One of them could be you!

​To become Miss America, a contestant must first win a local competition and then compete to represent her state, a process requiring personal commitment, hard work, and talent.  A woman may compete at the state level more than once but may only compete in the national Miss America competition one time.

Once you've submitted your application, click over to the Club America Registration tab and complete the registration steps.

​MAO Registration MUST be completed by SUNDAY, JULY 26 2026.
​This is an MAO and state program deadline and is NOT flexible.

​There are four important steps to the MAO Registration process for the 2028 Competition Cycle (C28). Please follow the directions below carefully. ​Do not hesitate to reach out to us should you have any questions

🆕 New Members — Complete All Four Steps
If this is your first time joining Club America, complete Steps 1, 2, 3, and 4 in order below.

↩️ Returning Members — Start at Step 2
If you are a returning Club America member, you do not need to complete Step 1 again. Begin at Step 2 (Delegate Agreement) and continue through Step 4.
  • Use the same email address and cellular number on file from your original Club America sign-up for every step.
  • Club America membership is an annual subscription and renews automatically on your original join-date anniversary — no need to re-register or re-pay unless your membership has lapsed.
Step 1: Join Club America
Club America ($49.99 + Fees = $51.74)
  • For new members only — first time joining Club America.
  • Sign up at club.missamerica.org/join.
  • Club America is a subscription and will renew automatically each year on your join-date anniversary.
  • All active competitors in Miss America local or state competitions must be members. Non-members cannot compete.
Step 2: Delegate Agreement

  • After completing Step 1, your contract will open automatically in your browser.
  • If it does not open, select the link matching your competition category:
  • Use the same email address and cellular number used to join Club America for all steps.

Important Notes: ​
  1. We recommend uploading your school transcripts and work documentation even if you are not using them to prove eligibility for Wayne County. You may need them for another local or Miss Michigan.
  2. Print a copy of your completed Delegate Agreement. It will need to be turned in at rehearsal on Sunday, August 2, 2026. We also ask that you upload a copy on the ​Paperwork & Submissions page.
Step 3: Go Red for Women Fundraising Link
MAO is a proud partner of the American Heart Association (AHA), and each contestant must raise $30 for each local competition she participates in.

  • After your agreement is complete, you will receive an email and SMS with a link to apply for your unique Go Red for Women Fundraising (Spot Fund) Link.
  • You may also access it directly at: club.missamerica.org/c28-grfw
  • Use the same email address and cellular number used to join Club America.
  • C28 competitors require a new C28 GRFW (Spot Fund) Link. Older links, i.e: c27 links will be disabled after September 30, 2026.

​​‼️IMPORTANT‼️
  1. Title your Miss Wayne County campaign in the following format: JaneDoe2028MI​​ 
    ​● 󠁯 Use 2028 because that is the cycle we are moving into for MAO.
    ●  Please DO NOT use any local name in the title. You will use this SAME campaign for the whole year up to and including Miss Michigan. 
  2. Once your Spot Fund $30 donation is completed, upload a screenshot of the completed donation on the Paperwork & Submissions page.​

Please note that if you already have a SpotFund account from a previous year, you must still click the new link to connect your account for the current C28 Cycle. Otherwise, funds may be allocated to the wrong year or become lost when the previous link closes. 
Step 4: Register for Miss Wayne County
Once Steps 1–3 are complete, register for your local pageant at:​ club.missamerica.org/club-membership
