Miss America is proud of its heritage and is more relevant than ever as an enormous opportunity for some of the most intelligent, outgoing, multi-faceted and stylish women today.
Private Interview
You should wear stylish interview attire. Dresses, business suits, and shirt/skirt combinations are all possibilities.
Opening Number & On-Stage Question

As a nod toward Michigan's Great Lakes, you will wear an outfit of your choice in any shade of blue for opening number and on-stage question. You may wear a dress or pants, but we encourage you to embody the beauty and fluidity of the lakes. |
Health & Fitness
Contestants are required by Miss America to wear their choice of fitness outfit from the of Rebel x Miss America Collab Red Collection. A contestant may wear the same Rebel x Miss America Collab Red Collection outfit in multiple local competitions.
A percentage of all revenue generated from MAO and MAO Teen contestants' purchases on the MAO Collaboration page of the Rebel website goes directly to supporting scholarships for each MAO State Organization. Please review the instructions provided below to make sure the Miss Michigan Organization receives their revenue percentage.

Talent / HERStory™
You will compete in the outfit/costume of your own choosing which reflects the talent presented. Props are allowed only if they are essential to and used during the talent presentation.

Evening Gown
You will compete in evening wear of your own choosing appropriate for red carpet. Floor length evening gowns are the most popular choice, but not required, for this phase of competition. (Tip: A floor length gown should just touch the floor in front of your big toe.) Remember, it doesn't matter how much the ensemble costs, but how the contestant wears it.
